Cape Roca, “Cabo da Roca” in Portuguese, is the westernmost place in Portugal and in continental Europe. It is located in the county of Sintra in Portugal and within the natural park of “Sintra-Cascais”.
With an altitude of around 140m (460ft) from the sea level, it has a remarkable landscape of the Atlantic ocean and the surrounding lands.
The famous Portuguese poet, Luís de Camões (16h century), quoted: «Here, where the land ends and the sea begins» («Aqui, onde a terra se acaba e o mar começa» in Portuguese).
